Keynote Speaker

Jeff Kroeker, FCMA

Voted Favorite Professor by UBC’s business students in 2002, 2003 and 2005

Recipient of 6 Teaching Excellence awards from 2002 – 2006

Jeff Kroeker is a faculty member at the Sauder School of Business at UBC. He teaches management accounting in the Undergraduate, Graduate and Executive Education programs at Sauder. He received his bachelor’s degree from Trinity Western University and MBA from Queen’s University. He is a Certified Management Accountant and a Fellow of the Society of Management Accountants of Canada.

Drawing upon his experience in corporate finance, his for profit and not-for-profit work in project management which brought him to Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Honduras and the Dominican Republic, he brings a broad perspective and global passion to the role of keynote speaker. He has engaged leaders of tomorrow in conferences as a keynote speaker on leadership and the value of higher education in Venezuela and Mexico.

He has been recognized for teaching excellence by Sauder students, Sauder faculty, the UBC Alma Mater Society, and by the Goldenkey International Honour Society.

Wendy Lim

Richmond School District

Wendy Lim is currently a District Administrator for the Richmond School District and she works to design effective professional development opportunities for educators as well as district leadership opportunities for students.  Over the 26 years of her educational career in the Richmond School District, she has been a science teacher, learning resource teacher, district teacher consultant, and school administrator.  In addition, Wendy has been a SFU faculty associate and sessional instructor, as well as author and staff developer.  She is married with two children and believes that ALL of us are leaders and that collectively we can make a positive difference in the lives of others, locally and globally.

Tran Chung

Sauder School of Business

Tran Chung is currently a full-time lecturer for the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia.  He teaches tax and accounting courses for undergraduate and graduate students.  He is also a senior tax advisor for several public and private companies.  Previously, Tran was the Global Director of Tax for Eastman Kodak Company and for Creo Inc.  Tran has extensive knowledge in setting up international tax structures and tax planning for mergers and acquisitions.  He has a Master of Tax degree at the University of Waterloo and an LLM at Osgoode Law School.

Meena Sandhu

ING Direct

Meena Sandhu is a Business Manager with ING DIRECT in Vancouver and has been with them for 9 years.  Meena holds a Bachelors Degree in International Relations and Business Commerce from UBC, as well as a Marketing and Public Relations specialization at BCIT.  In her time with ING DIRECT, she has grown to become a recognized speaker in the community.  Meena has presented numerous workshops and seminars on savings and banking in general, working with all age levels from teaching the value of savings to young children to educating seniors on online banking.

Sabrina Tong

TD Canada Trust

Sabrina is currently working as a Manager of Customer Service at TD Canada Trust . She has been with TD Canada Trust since 2001 having started as a teller and moved her way through the ranks. Her current focus is to support and train her staff to provide the absolute best level of service to her clients. She looks forward to meeting everyone at the conference and answering any questions you have about the financial industry.

Dionne Lui

Royal Bank of Canada

Dionne Lui graduated from UBC in 1997. She started her banking career with RBC 10 years ago growing her experience and expertise in various roles then she took on the challenges of an Account Manager role 6 years ago. In this Account Manager role, Dionne’s key focus is meeting clients’ needs by providing them services and advice around account opening, investments, as well as loans and mortgages. She has been greatly enjoying her role and her next goal is becoming a Branch Manager.

Anthony Cheung

RBC Dominion Securities

Born and raised in Vancouver, Anthony joined RBC Dominion Securities as an Investment Advisor in March 2008 after 6 years at RBC Royal Bank. After graduating from the University of British Columbia in 2002 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Finance, he has obtained professional designations including the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation and the Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation.  Anthony specializes in providing comprehensive financial planning and investment portfolio solutions to individuals, families, and businesses.

Chuck Tsui

TD Waterhouse Canada

Chuck Tsui is currently working as District Business Development Manager of TD Waterhouse Canada Inc.  Before taking the role in Business Development team, he played different roles in the company as Investment Representative and Trading Supervisor for 6 years.  The job was to facilitate securities and monitoring securities executions.  He started his career in Securities Industry since his completion of Master of Business Administration.  Currently, Chuck is also the Regional Director of Canadian Society of Technical Analysis to promote securities analysis in Greater Vancouver Area.

Sophia Zhao

BMO Nesbitt Burns

Sophia is a recent business graduate from Simon Fraser University (SFU), specializing in finance and accounting.  She has worked at financial institutions such as Royal Bank of Canada, National Bank Financial, Vancity Wealth Management, TD Commercial Bank, Pinnacle Capital Management LLC, and is currently BMO Nesbitt Burns’ Private Client Group as an investment representative.  Sophia is very active in the community, where she has been involved with SFU Finance Club and volunteers as an instructor for Dollars with Sense of Junior Achievement.
